Right now we live in a small space with a mini-kitchen. Our appliances are smaller and the space I have to cook in is smaller, but I can finally say, I have gotten used to it. My wife loves all things apple, and she loves my applesauce. Years ago I made huge batches and gave it away as gifts (I had a larger kitchen and storage for extras back then). She never lets me forget it.
In September, one of Karen’s clients gave her a huge bag of Granny Smith and Golden Delicious apples; the same day I had just bought a big bag of Fuji apples. I love to add apples to lots of things but at some point I needed to claim my small kitchen back. So I decided to make some apple sauce.
Saturday, after making it again, I decided that I would share my success with you because I bet most people don’t know how easy it is to make apple sauce and also that you don’t have to make a huge batch that takes over all your storage space. And for any of you that don’t know how to can foods, this project is still do-able. (more…)

As we slipped into November Karen and I have been very busy but I was sure we needed to EXCLAIM something…so as she fell asleep at my feet last night, I again, asked her what we should write about. Struggling to open her eyes, she said, “Why don’t we EXCLAIM Thanksgiving?”
Just minutes earlier, she had talked me into turning off The Late Show and going to bed, but fell asleep before she could make her dreams come true…or move so I could get off the couch without having to climb over her. In those few moments, my brain turned back on and reminded me that I never run out of things to do. So with some grumbling, “Do we have to do this now? Oh, I missed my chance!” Karen and I came up with 30 things we are so THANKFUL for in Longview, Washington.

I really enjoy the wonderful smell of Therapeutic Grade Lemongrass Essential Oil. It is clean, vibrant and soothing all at the same time. Although my wife doesn’t choose to use oils very often, this is one I can slip into her gym bag and know she will use it after a vigorous workout to calm her achy muscles. I have been to offices that diffuse this in their lobby and it seems to create a pleasant ambiance for those waiting to be served.

I found my baby book a couple weeks ago and in it was a note from my mom, when I was 6; she said I prayed a lot on my own and spoke of spiritual things. I don’t remember this but I do remember the day I met Jesus. I was and playing alone in my backyard. That was 33 years ago. As of 2 days ago, I have committed myself to more prayer and time with God. I have repented for not living in my gifts and allowing God to use me to His fullest. I will probably have to do this many times. Lord, I am confused as to what I should learn from that I have read. It seems that all the scripture that I read in 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles and Jeremiah was just war after war and lie after lie. I recognize I don’t understand the value not only because I see that all of it was to prove, yet again, that You tried to change the hearts of Your people, Israel, so many times, yet they enjoyed worshiping idols and did not honor Your wishes and blatantly lied. They were so far from You that they even lied to You through Jeremiah, Your prophet. Deceit and confusion seem to work together so well, that we do not understand even what we are doing will only keep us from You. Thank You that above all, You have preserved me so that I can be in relationship with You and bless You and bless others. I repent for continually falling as though to pull judgement and punishment on my own head. I don’t know how to stop. (more…)

I fear, just as You brought Egypt down because of their pride, lust, greed and love of power, that our nation may also be guilty and in danger of destruction or at least a great scourging. My fear is for Your children who are easily distracted or have become defiled by the sins of society. I pray, Lord, for more faith and more wisdom. I know I have been blessed beyond measure. Thank You that You daily provide for Karen and my needs in Your perfect timing. Thank You that You have proven that You never leave or forsake us or forget us. Thank You that You have prepared us for where we are and at all times. Lord guide our prayers, testimony and action so that we can empower the people You place before us. When asked, my wife will tell you that her favorite oil is Wild Orange Essential Oil. If I leave the diffuser in her hands, there will always be Therapeutic-Grade Wild Orange Essential Oil in it! It smells so good that it even makes her want to clean…which is not something she really likes to do. When I am dusting I always put a bit of Wild Orange and Rosemary Essential Oil on my dust rag. I have also mixed it with baking powder to scrub the grout in the bathroom; it works better than anything I have bought in the store.
