Galatians 1:10

For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

Paul had been a Pharisee. He had been taught and he practiced all the laws, given to him by the church – even killing Christians because that is what he knew – Yet Jesus, Himself, came to him and transformed him so much that he became ready to be about God’s real business. If he had told God no, he would have had a frustrated life, pleasing men, but by following Jesus, he helped save men for generations as he is author of much of the New Testament.

This is relatable to a story Karen shared with me yesterday. She spends time making a schedule. It helps focus her and organize her priorities. She needs to do this. But when specific clients or situations arise, the schedule goes out the window because she must serve the Lord and many times, this makes her have to forget the plan. She will return to the plan. She needs the guidance it offers but by knowing when God shows up to change the plan, she also reaps the benefit of miracles at work.
I think this how we should view bible study. The relationship we build through honest prayer and worship, makes the bible study come alive and get us in the right direction so that when God shows up to change things, we know how to let Him take over. When it is over we will return, but the structure only enables us for the off-the-cuff miracles God likes to use us for.
Psalm 18:30
As for God, His way is perfect; The world of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who turn to Him.

I am praying for you.

My name is Summer. That is how you can call me. I hope that I am a blessing to you. I am not perfect. I will fall again. But I am forgiven.

If you would like to know Jesus as your friend, but want to make this amazing commitment by yourself please pray something like this:

Thank you Jesus that You are the Son of God, the God that created heaven and earth. Thank you Jesus that You came to earth in the form of a man so that You would be able to empathize with my humanity. Thank You that You did this in order to fulfill the promises You made at the foundation of the world.

I realize that I am a sinner and do things that hurt myself and keep myself away from you. Thank You that You died for my sins so that You could defeat death and bring me into Your life. Please forgive me.

I ask You to be Lord of my life. I ask you to heal my hurts and show me what my new life, empowered by You looks like. Thank You for Your mercy.

Amen

The Lord is with you always.
