God’s Breath In My Lungs

My soul hurts today
I have never been raped
but men have touched me
without my permission
and I felt violated
Most of my friends can say the same
or more

God did not give permission
for anyone
to hunt, kill, or eat each other
Change can come if we decide
we want it bad enough
We don’t have to work from hate

We can work for love of each other
Because I love you and
value you
I want your safety and life
to be honored

~

No longer can we protect sickness
and depravity
You don’t get to steal
God’s breath in my lungs
We must protect life
All of it
