Much of the bible was written to capture the attention of educated Jews that were used to having tons of laws to live by but according to Galatians 2:20-21 we are free from that. We are meant to learn what our adoption means as the Holy Spirit leads us, testing all things by the same Holy Spirit that is guiding us, and tell others about it in truth and love.
Grace is Unbalanced
Human versions of grace will always be “Unbalanced Grace” because without a full understanding of our salvation we can’t even come close to understanding what true grace is (it is not a candy cane that humans can hand you…those melt in your mouth and are quickly forgotten).
Repentance is the Rabbit Hole
The role of repentance is not to scare you into submission. It is to bring you to submission, but not in a way that dishonors your free-will. Repentance is merely going before your creator and admitting that you might be wrong about something and asking forgiveness. Once you accept that Jesus forgave you before you were born on this matter too, he is free to do the rest…which is to lead you into the truth of who he made you to be.
Love or Law
Loving people will reach more people who are lost from their true love. We don’t need to redefine salvation or Christianity and humans really can’t. Grace is something most of us can’t truly perceive without true revelation from God because it is too deep and wide for our small minds to comprehend without first understanding that we no longer should use our mind, but Christ’s…and that is something most people could never learn from anything taught via Man’s mouth, no matter how well-meaning and loving the person may be. I say learn because I can tell you about it and you can hear me, but only the Holy Spirit can help you understand it.
Everything is about Relationship
There comes a point that one must step away from the bible as our first answer and look into the face of Jesus. See HIS nature. See HIS character. See HIS understanding in order to understand what the word Christian is. You can only do this in relationship because a relationship is a dance. A book is an inanimate object no matter how inspired, holy and knowledge-filled the words on the page are. This statement does not mean, don’t read your bible and delve into it with the Holy Spirit, but to trust Jesus in you and you in Jesus to be able to walk away from the book and dance with others in a way that loves everyone. Jesus saves…it is only our job to talk about what he has done in us. You can’t make anyone believe you anyway…and I guarantee that like to be loved differently than anyone else.
Being A Little Christ Means To Mimic Christ
Christianity, with or without any label before the word (ie Progressive, New Age, Traditional, etc), is nothing without relationship with Christ. God created us in his image because it made him happy to be friends with us. He honors our free will and in his perfect (and probably unfathomable to most humans) grace, we receive salvation once we choose to, if he has chosen us. The hardest part is knowing that not everyone is chosen but we have no ability to know who is or who isn’t. That is God’s job…and I am so thankful for that.
Politics vs Christianity
Politics is a practice of trying to influence people on civic matters through making and upholding laws. We often confuse our role in politics because politics are meant to make people work together so we can all stand living with each other. If we understand who Christ is in us and who we are in Christ, the laws are not needed because we will honor each other and lift each other up. Politics are meant for those who are not following Christ. Laws are made for non-christians.
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
