Mark 11:17
Then He taught, saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations?’ But you have made it a den of thieves.”

In the passages before this scripture Jesus is telling people that possessions can have power over us; they can make it impossible for us to follow Christ – I must admit, I like to dream about a future that sparkles with a big house and backyard with children and animals – but what I really want is room to build relationships and love people. I can do that in this little hotel room, I have been blessed to live in for 19 months. I have had loved ones visit, had tiny dinner parties, danced, sang, even worshiped Jesus out loud here. I have forgiven BIG hurts and gotten stronger and more aware of what God made me for, I have blessed people who live here, made are friends, engaged with old friends, been desperate – AND – majorly blessed here. Some of the most life-changing revelations and healing in my spirit, ever, have happened here. Time and time again, Jesus tells me, “My grace is sufficient for you.”

My body is His kingdom. He lives here. He loves here. He heals here. I have never seen that more, than now, as He removes things that I valued from my hands and shows me what He would like me to do with my hands – Since I have the audacity to ask Him to show me what I look like in Him and He in me; to reform my mind so that I am more like Him, so that I can love more people and better.
I am a house of prayer. I am open 24-7 and I pray for anything He calls me to. As I lose interest in the stupidity I used to value – fighting, buying stuff I don’t need, judging, being right…and so much more – the things that stole my heart away from my first love, I can say there are less thieves in this den and I worship and praise and trust Him more.
Being in constant communication with Jesus, helps keep worries and unimportant things out of my way. It also consistently  reminds me of His voice so that I don’t get lost, while He leads. Thank You Jesus that You are my good shepherd and You have done everything to keep me with You. You chose me. You found me; Over and over again! You showed me love and encouraged and disciplined as needed and You always will.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

I am praying for you.

My name is Summer. That is how you can call me. I hope that I am a blessing to you. I am not perfect. I will fall again. But I am forgiven.

If you would like to know Jesus as your friend, but want to make this amazing commitment by yourself please pray something like this:

Thank you Jesus that You are the Son of God, the God that created heaven and earth. Thank you Jesus that You came to earth in the form of a man so that You would be able to empathize with my humanity. Thank You that You did this in order to fulfill the promises You made at the foundation of the world.

I realize that I am a sinner and do things that hurt myself and keep myself away from you. Thank You that You died for my sins so that You could defeat death and bring me into Your life. Please forgive me.

I ask You to be Lord of my life. I ask you to heal my hurts and show me what my new life, empowered by You looks like. Thank You for Your mercy.

Amen

The Lord is with you always.
