Recently Karen and I were loaned a copy of The Isaiah 9:10 Judgement DVD by a friend, who has watched lots of times and felt that we really needed to see it. So that is what we did on our day off, actually it played twice through because Karen had fallen asleep at the end and I was inspired to pray and search the bible for a few words about themes that I saw throughout the production. The editing team that created it made sure that it looped and so, in the end it was at least listened to twice in our house.
The Isaiah 9:10 Judgement DVD was written by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn to accompany his books The Harbinger and The Harbinger Companion.
On ChristianBook.com the Publisher’s Description for The Isaiah 9:10 Judgement states:
An obscure passage in the Book of Isaiah describing the fall of ancient Israel has, since September 11, 2001, been eerily re-enacted in the United States exactly as it originally occurred in the time of the great prophet of Israel leading to the nation’s demise.
Jonathan Cahn, the author of The Harbinger, has been shocking audiences by revealing the astonishing parallels between the fall of ancient Israel and current events unfolding in the US, what he calls, “an ancient mystery that holds the secrets of America’s future and the collapse of the global economy.”
In this stunning new documentary of The Isaiah 9:10 Judgement, Rabbi Cahn unravels the mystery behind this seemingly innocuous Biblical verse, and shows that ancient harbingers of judgement are now manifesting in America, just as they once did in Israel.
This fascinating new DVD asks the question, “Is God sending America a prophetic message of what will soon be?” and Rabbi Cahn provides the answers through mountain evidence that the answer is ‘yes.’
What I Noticed While I Watched:
There seemed to be several themes that ran through this production:
- The United State of America is supreme and above all other countries and must be punished
- JUDGEMENT
- The Prophecies in The Old Testament Were Not Fulfilled
The United States Must Be Held Above All Countries and Found Guilty
Personally, I don’t think the United States is a better country than all other countries.
All countries are made of people that are evil and/or forgiven. We are all placed on the paths that God planned for us and empowered us for, and mine is on USA soil. All countries have corruption financially, politically and otherwise. All countries could perform better in some way or another. I am thankful that I live in the United States because I feel there are freedoms, that I may not have in other countries, that I enjoy here. My family and friends are here and I don’t know living in any other country, because I have never more than visited another country. So I thank God for all He has prepared me for and where He put me and all that implies.
Another point that Karen kept mentioning while we watched the movie was how often Rabbi Cahn seemed to imply that by rebuilding, following 9-11, we were thumbing our nose at God, collectively. I find this really hard to imagine that the entire population had the intention to do this because, I didn’t think that when I was worshiping for hours that night or the nights to follow, or when I was watching the news or even when I was praying for the men that seemed to think it was ok to murder thousand of people with a torpedo made of people, that had once been families in an airplane traveling to their destinations.
So many people were hurt, physically, mentally, emotionally by the attack of 9-11. I know a part of me changed that day and it never went back and I am not in New York. Of course we would rebuild. The people of New York deserved it. The people of the United States deserved it too. The devastation that happened that day affected us all in so many ways. Not just New Yorkers searched the wreckage for lives, but New York deserved to have the big gapping whole in their skyline that only reminded them of death and terrorism to be filled with proof that we can overcome. Why would we allow the intention of evil men to prevail? I don’t believe that any other country that had the ability to rebuild after something so catastrophic would have done any different.
…and even as Rabbi Cahn pushed that we had used hewn rock to build the foundation of the new building and replanted a cedar tree where a sycamore had once been, even as he tried to say we were repeating a dire past, I couldn’t help but thank God, because He had made that rock and that tree and all the people that find a little peace in seeing the New York skyline restored and be happy because His people were happy.
Galatians :28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
If we are all equal in Christ than choosing one country over the rest is a moot point.
Hebrews 8
Jesus was the new covenant to replace the promises made in the Old Testament, because God knew that we would be stubborn people, and would need to base our faith in God on the relationship we could never have without Jesus giving his life freely for us….you should follow that link and read it for yourself…I could be wrong….:)
Guilt Laden
Repeated and over and over again there is a foreboding message of guilt and judgement. Once one “Harbinger” is shown, we must back up and repeat all that came before it. We are to feel hopeless and guilty…at least that was my take on it…If that is the case how does does the following verse line up?
Romans 8:
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
If you haven’t asked Jesus, the Son of God, who created all the earth, to be your Lord and Savior, you should.
There is No New Testament?
Have you ever pondered why there is an Old Testament and a New Testament? The answer is that the Old Testament is pretty much based on the Law and the New Testament is the life of Jesus who saved us through grace.
John :17
For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:7-8
Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God. For I say that Christ has become a servant to the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God to confirm the promises given to the fathers, and for the Gentiles to glorify God for His mercy; as it is written.
The fathers are the Jewish men of The Old Testament…the Gentiles are us lowly people, commonly known as Christians…I am not going to search for proof on that one…so you will have to Google it.
Corinthians :20
For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are “Yes”; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.
When I actually read the entire chapter of Isaiah 9, I felt it was full of hope. It begins foretelling the coming of Jesus who will save us all (Isaiah 9:-7). Even as the chapter continues and tells of the destruction of people for their sins, THREE times it states: “And His hand is still stretched out.”
When I read two studies on the book of Isaiah, both seemed to agree that whether you divide the chapter into or parts that the entire story is based on the evil of man but the joy of the Lord that comes with the Messiah. But don’t take my word for it, check it out yourself….
Isaiah 9
The people who walk in darkness Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them. You shall multiply the nation, You shall increase their gladness; They will be glad in Your presence As with the gladness of harvest, As men rejoice when they divide the spoil. For You shall break the yoke of their burden and the staff on their shoulders, The rod of their oppressor, as at the battle of Midian. For every boot of the booted warrior in the battle tumult, And cloak rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire. For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Might God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
The Lord sends a message against Jacob, And it falls on Israel. And all the people know it, This is, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, Asserting in pride and in arrogance of heart: “The bricks have fallen down, But we will rebuild with smooth stones; The sycamores have been cut down, But we will replace them with cedars.” Therefore the Lord raises against them adversaries from Rezin And spurs their enemies on, The Arameans on the east and the Philistines on the west; And they devour Israel with gaping jaws. In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away And His hand is still stretched out.
Yet the people do not turn back to Him who struck them, Nor do they seek the Lord of hosts, So the Lord cuts off head and tail from Israel, Both palm branch and bulrush in a single day. The head is the elder and honorable man, And the prophet who teaches falsehood is the tail. For those who guide this people are leading them astray; And those who are guided by them are brought to confusion. Therefore the Lord does not take pleasure in their young men, Nor does He have pity on their orphans or their widows; For every one of them is godless and an evildoer, And every mouth is speaking foolishness. In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away And His hand is still stretched out.
For wickedness burns like a fire; It consumes briars and thorns; It even sets the thickets of the forest aflame And they roll upward in a column of smoke. By the fury of the Lord of hosts the land is burned up, And the people are like fuel for the fire; No man spares his brother. They slice off what is on the right hand but still are hungry, And they eat what is on the left hand but they are satisfied; Each of them eats the flesh of his own arm. Manasseh devours Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh, And together they are against Judah. In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away And His hand is still stretched out.
What was my response to this movie?
You may have figured it out, but I will tell you anyway. As I watched this movie, I asked God, what He thought of the message and He asked me, “What do you think?”
I told Him that I thought it was strange that there was this deep judgement against the United States, which although is not sin-free, there are many other countries that can also by found guilty. I told Him that I was curious why this man would seem to really push the point of my guilt when I know I have been redeemed through Jesus Christ. I told Him that I felt that this man was adding to the prophecy of the Old Testament.
I believe that God placed the following scripture in my mind:
Matthew 7:15
Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
Hebrews 13:7-9
Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.
I have never visited New York, but I must say now I am considering visiting. The sheer negativity, down to the music and the angle of the camera and the viewpoints being shared made New York sound like a place that is full of terrible people. Do I think this could be true? By the grace of God, NO! I can’t watch this movie after remembering the interviews of people who were hurt in a way that I can’t even imagine, and say that I think that there is only evil in New York, and quite honestly I want to stand on the ground there before I decide something so dire.
Another point that Karen has shown me is that once you offer up a harsh criticism, such as was given in this movie, there must be a call to action. Honestly I don’t think there was a very good one. I heard a lot of sensational symbolism in order to invoke my emotions, but nothing that could cause my mind to waiver from my original viewpoint. The largest emotion was hate. Since God cannot hate, because there is only love in Him, I don’t think this movie, even though Rabbi Cahn did an “alter call”, brought anyone closer to the Lord, at least not the loving one that I know.
I don’t want you to think that I have staged a verbal war against Rabbi Cahn. Honestly, I doubt he would care because I am sure that by reading my thoughts, someone will pay money to read this man’s book and continue to allow him to reap the spoils of his art…because that is the nature of man.
What Is My Main Focus of this Article?
I think this man is creative, learned and intelligent…and full of shit…but I want you to educate yourself. I want you to meet Jesus. I want you to be saved.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Revelation :15-20
‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
P.S.
