Dear Representative,

I am writing regarding H.R. 8800, otherwise known as National Defense Authorization Act or NDAA. I see this $1.15 trillion spending bill, and I wonder why we need to spend $600 billion more this year than last year. I read the bill and I see that our military are getting raises, and although I like that idea, they work hard. I am very angry that in section 219 we plan to merge with Israel.

I do not see Israel as a secure choice. This war with Iran, we are in, is because they want us to be. Every time we hear the Trump Administration has negotiated a peace deal, Israel blows it up, literally. Israel does not want peace. Israel has their own agenda, and we should let them have their own war.

The only people benefitting from this war is the rich people that are making money off government contracts, while innocent civilians are being massacred and military are dying. I don’t see that Baron Trump or any of his cousins have joined the forces.

I am also very angry that Marie Gluesenkamp Perez joined the republicans on this vote. I am not surprised, nonetheless.

“The NDAA cannot become a permission slip for the recklessness that we see occurring in Iran. Donald Trump does not get to drag the American people deeper into a war he cannot explain and does not know how to end — and then demand that Congress look the other way.” Chuck Schumer

I have read from two articles that along with this bill, The Save Act, or H.R. 1296 will be brought along with this one.

The Save Act requires a Real ID. I am not an irresponsible person. But I am poor. I am disabled and my wife works 3 jobs to pay the rest of our bills that my social security can’t pay. Some people say it has been easy to get the documents needed to get their Real ID. I am glad for them. I ordered a birth certificate last year. It is not here. I finally have my wife’s, but we can’t afford the Read ID yet. I am most concerned about her’s because she took my name when we got married. But I don’t have a copy of my birth certificate to prove I am not lying about who I am. I have it lost since I got my driver’s license 37 years ago.

So just like it is supposed to, The Save Act is suppressing women, married women, rural, elderly, and disabled people. Because when there are low voter turnouts, republicans do better. Which is interesting, because I am an independent. Although, I am pretty unhappy with what the republicans have become under Trump.

He promised that he would put America first, but he seems to like Israel A LOT! He gives them a ton of money, while he makes significant cuts to health care and social programs. He also seems to be very concerned about an election he can’t be part of.

Please vote no on H.R. 8800 and H.R. 7296. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Summer D. Clemenson
