The Monticello Hotel opened for business on July 23, 1923 and was the centerpiece that the City of Longview was built around. The “fire-proof” 200-room hotel housed prospective residents and visiting business people who had come in search of property. Originally named “Hotel Monticello,” it was the first building to be completed in the planned city. The name was chosen in honor of the first pioneer community on the Cowlitz River, which was named after Thomas Jefferson’s plantation.

Over the past 90 years, The Monticello Hotel has seen many changes. In 1962 the Hotel Monticello’s sign was blown down during a storm, to be replaced by the glowing red Monticello Hotel sign that can be seen today. In the 1950’s The Monticello Motel was built next to The Monticello Hotel, and offers 20 lovely rooms. In 1973 and 1989 The Monticello Hotel was renovated to add apartments, professional office suites and 4 luxury suites. The Monticello Hotel offers historical ambience and modern convenience at competitive prices.

When we first were asked to undertake the project of building the online presence of The Monticello Hotel, we were very excited! As much as we love Longview, we were amazed to be chosen to share all The Monticello Hotel and Motel had to offer and the adventure has continued, even to this day.
Exclaim Media Video & Marketing built the new website, gave the logo a bit of a facelift and produced video showcasing each Luxury Suite and The Motel. We also offered guidance to the The Monticello Hotel and Motel Facebook page and added a Twitter account to the online repertoire. We hope that will be working with the management and staff of The Monticello Hotel and Motel far into the future and have plans for other projects to come.

Over the last 9 months we have had the pleasure of walking through the Luxury Suites and several of the motel rooms as they were being renovated. This wonderful gift to Longview, given by Robert A. Long, has been maintained by loving hands, even as plans are made to keep making The Monticello Hotel and Motel even more beautiful and the perfect place for visiting families and friends and business people to Longview and the
surrounding cities. We have also had the opportunity to stay in a number of rooms at The Monticello Hotel and Motel and we are happy to give an EXCLAIMATIOUS thumbs up to the kind, thoughtful and detail-minded staff.
